Funsies

The second prim baby brand that we will be talking about is the Funsies brand. Funsies have really come a long way in the last few years and they are nothing short of amazing. In my humble opinion, they are the most true to real life brand on the second life market at this moment. If you are looking for a very realistic parenting experience in Second Life with a prim baby/child, you won't be disappointed with Funsies. Every single Funsies baby is different...they all have different personalities, and will have certain favorite toys, and learn things at different times. Even twins can be completely different.

At the time of this post (March 2016) the price for a Funsies child is 2950L as a newborn with one eye color. A recent update added an "All Eyes" option for the children. You can now purchase a baby that comes with the ability to change eye colors from several options via the menu for 3500L.

There are also older children available for adoption in the adoption center on the Funsies sim. The prices vary as do the ages of the available children. Please see store for more details.

Do Funsies Babies Grow?

Yes they grow in real time as long as they are rezzed inworld. If they are placed in inventory, they simply freeze and do not start growing again until rezzed.  If you would like your child to grow more rapidly than real time, there are Growth Hearts available at the store in various month amounts so that you can age your child as quickly as you desire. Funsies babies grow to adulthood! They are the only brand that I know of that continue to grow for this amount of time.

Can My Baby Get Sick Or Die?

Funsies babies are amazing in that they can get sick although this is very rare with good care. They will never die. When your Funsies baby is sick, it will state in the menu what illness they have. Medicines and vaccines are available at the store at a very low price to instantly cure your child.  

What Is The Cost Of Care? 

Caring for a Funsies baby is a lot like caring for a real life child. They need Rest, Food, Cleanliness and Loving Care in order to stay happy and healthy. You have many fun options when it comes to taking care of their needs. Diaper bags are sold in the store which restore all four stats instantly and are very cost effective depending on how many Funsies children you have. Stats can also be maintained by the use of a nanny that can be purchased in the store. The nanny is a great thing to have if your children are rezzed out and you need to be away for part of the day.

 If you would like to cook your own food to restore the Hunger stat, you may do so by purchasing a Funsies Oven and ingredients to make recipes which are also sold in the store. If cooking your own food isn't your favorite thing to do, there are also many types of pre-made food available at the store....anything from bottles and breastpads for breastfeeding moms, to sodas, dinners, and even vegetarian meals. Even fruit and snacks are available. Each of these items restores the Hunger stat a certain percentage, depending on what type of food it is. There are also snacks that you can set out and your child will eat them when he or she is hungry enough...just like in real life!

  The Rest stat can be taken care of by a Funsies crib, bed, mattress or nap cot that is sold in the Funsies store. The Cleanliness stat can be taken care of by using a potty chair, bath tub, baby wipes, or diapers. All of these items are found in the store. Purchasing a potty, bath tub or changing table restores the Cleanliness stat with no need for future purchases so it's very cost effective.

The Loving Care stat is restored with an age appropriate toy. You can find a huge selection of toys at the Funsies store. Some toys are able to be used when your child reaches a certain age, and other toys are able to be used when your child learns them, which leads me to the next important point to consider with Funsies babies....the OSTRTA star.

Once every 30 days, your child will need to be given an OSTRTA star in order for them to learn new things. Think of this as your child's brain. Every month they will grow in size all by themselves without anything extra being done, but in order for their brain to grow, they need a star. The stars cost 250L each at the time of this post.

So in conclusion, Funsies babies are very budget friendly. They only need one OSTRTA each month, and they need to be fed while they are rezzed out and not in a bed sleeping. I have found that depending on how many hours per day you have your Funsies child out of bed or rezzed inworld, you may need to feed them 2 or 3 times a day. The other stats can be maintained by one time purchases such as the potty, crib, and a toy to play with.

Are There Toys Or Accessories Available?

Yes there is a huge selection of toys and accessories available for your child. 

Can I Change My Baby's Appearance? 

Yes you are able to change your baby's appearance at birth. If you chose an "All Eyes" option baby you may change the baby's eye color at any time. There are many different hair styles, skirts, clothing accessories etc to choose from and your baby can wear as many of these as you wish at any time.

   

 

Can I Change The Gender Of My Baby?

The gender of the baby cannot be changed. You can decide to purchase either a girl or a boy in the store. 

Can My Partner/Family/Friends Hold/Care For My Baby?

Yes you can add other people to the family list within your baby's menu and this allows them to interact with your baby. Also if your partner is on the family list, and also has your edit rights, he or she can actually pick up your baby inworld and hold him or her.  

What Happens If I Lose My Baby? 

In the rare event that someone does try to kidnap your baby, or during a Second Life glitch, you can contact customer service for help locating your baby first and then choose to redeliver your baby at the store. You never have to worry about losing your Funsies baby.
